ICO

the project:

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) took effect in May 2018 to evolve the UK’s data protection laws. It all happened against a backdrop of huge public interest in privacy, following controversial news stories about how organisations were using personal data in ways people wouldn’t realise or expect.
Working with Squad and the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office), this public information campaign needed to present GDPR as a force for good in tackling the issues. It also needed to complement the GDPR info already in circulation to ensure a consistent message. Building public trust and confidence was key. The ‘Your data matters’ strapline, clever ‘toggle’ device and fingerprint faces put the focus on people having greater control of their data. It presented all the positives of data-sharing, from improved healthcare to travel updates. Campaign comms included web copy, video, advertising and social media content which organsations could use for their own customers, saving them having to create their own GDPR awareness messages.
